Monacolin K acts as an inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase , a mechanism similar to that of statins, but of natural origin, being the most studied and endorsed dietary alternative by the EFSA and the European Commission.

Supplementation includes Coenzyme Q10 , a key endogenous antioxidant that:

• Counteracts monacolin K-induced Q10 depletion
